SNF Nostos 2023 will focus on mental health

August 01 2022

SNF Nostos, the annual free and open summer event from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) featuring lively discussion, expert insights, chart-topping music, genre-defying art, and interactive entertainment for all, will return to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens on June 21, 22, and 23, 2023.

After the success of this year’s SNF Nostos Health, health remains in focus, with the spotlight turning to a critical area: mental health. Caring for our mental health is a fundamental concern for every human being, but is of particular importance for young people. It’s high time we have frank, uninhibited conversations on all levels about mental health and the stigma of mental illness.

Driven by a belief in the power of dialogue, SNF Nostos 2023 picks up where we left off in June 2022. SNF Dialogues, SNF’s public platform for open discussion curated and moderated by Anna-Kynthia Bousdoukou, will kickstart the conversation on mental health.

Looking to move beyond a superficial analysis of the issue and to delve deeper into the research, the data, and global expert opinions—and to reveal the evolution of science in the field of mental health—the 2023 SNF Nostos Conference will take a wide view of how to better tackle an issue that matters for all of us, especially young people. With the valuable contribution of the nonprofit journalism organization iMEdD (incubator for Media Education and Development) and the participation of young people from all over the world, the issue of mental health will be examined in a global, human-centric way that doesn’t hesitate to challenge convention. At the same time, the work of SNF’s Health Initiative (HI) in the field of mental health will bring to the conversation sound information grounded in science and research, new data, and in-depth experiential observations shared for the first time at an open event of this magnitude.

And SNF Nostos doesn’t stop there. In parallel, a rich menu of activities, arts programming, interactive experiences, and, of course, the traditional SNF Nostos Run on June 23 (implemented in collaboration with the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress) will round out the days of the festival and offer thrilling and moving experiences to audiences of all ages.

As we get closer to the date, we will continue to share exciting updates about SNF Nostos 2023!
