10K SNF Nostos Run
Information & Participation Instructions
Date of Event: Wednesday, August 25, 2021
Start Time: 19:30
Starting Point: Panathenaic Stadium. Runners will be placed in ten (10) different starting blocks. Admission to the blocks will be closed at 19:20.
Finishing Point: Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC)
Electronic timing: Though the SNF Nostos Run is not competitive in nature, official times will be kept for the 10K route.
Arrival of Athletes: Runners must be present at the starting point at least forty-five (45) minutes prior to the scheduled start time (i.e. by 18:45). Runners with a bib and an admission bracelet will be admitted to the area of the blocks at 18:45. Runners must be at the starting block set ten (10) minutes before the start (i.e. by 19:20), and must wear a face mask until their block starts running. They must put on a mask immediately after finishing the race. For a safe and smooth race, runners are kindly requested to observe the starting block indicated on their entry number.
Route: The race will start at the Panathenaic Stadium, following a route that will head north on Vas. Konstantinou Avenue, which is later renamed Vas. Sofias Avenue, heading right all the way up to Mavili Square. Runners will make a U-turn on the traffic island (at the intersection of Kerasountos and Soutsou Streets), where the route shifts to the lane in the direction of Piraeus, up to the Hilton junction, and will then turn right on Vas. Sofias Avenue, headed towards Syntagma. The race then follows a route to the left on Vas. Amalias Avenue, headed towards the Columns of Olympian Zeus, in the lane towards Piraeus. Then, the route turns right on Syggrou Avenue and continues in the direction of the waterfront, turning right on Lysikratous Street, where runners enter the frontage road off Syggrou, turning left on Evripidou Street, before finishing the race at the SNFCC.

Arrival of Athletes: Runners must be present at the starting point at least forty-five (45) minutes prior to the scheduled start time (i.e. by 19:45). Runners will then make a U-turn towards the National Garden, followed by a left turn on Vas. Olgas Avenue and then heading right on Vas. Amalias Avenue, on the lane heading north. The route then takes a right turn on Syggrou Avenue and continues in the direction of the waterfront. After a right turn on Lysikratous Street, runners enter the frontage road off Syggrou Avenue and then make a left turn on Evripidou Street, before finishing the race at the SNFCC.

Race package pick-up

In order to best serve the runners, the race package should be picked up in person at the Event Pavilion which will be located in the forecourt of the Panathenaic Stadium.

Runners with:
A) a certificate of full vaccination (with the final dose administered at least 14 days prior)
or
B) a certificate of recovery from COVID-19, issued within 30 days of their first positive COVID-19 test. This certificate is considered valid for one hundred and eighty (180) days after the first positive test. In cases exceeding 180 days, individuals who have had at least one dose of the vaccine, at least 14 days prior, are considered fully vaccinated. The above certificates, [A] and [B], are issued via the website European Digital COVID-19 Certificate - Gov.gr (www.gov.gr).

Runners with a valid negative PCR or Rapid Test (performed within the last 72 or 48 hours, respectively), the result of which will be accessible either electronically via the application of the General Secretariat of Information Systems, or presented in printed form during admission, will be able to receive their package from the 23rd to the 24th of August, 2021.

All runners must present—either in printed form or electronically via their mobile device—the above certificates, which will be scanned electronically via the dedicated Covid Free GR application. Anyone coming from a country outside the EU must present the certificates in paper or electronic form. An identity card, passport, or driver’s license is required for identity verification.

In order to ensure the quickest entrance and the best experience for our runners, we urge runners to be able to present a negative test result, registered before accessing the race’s Secretariat.

After the confirmation of the above, the Secretariat will place on the wrist of each runner a special hypoallergenic fabric entrance bracelet, which is disposable and proves that the runner holds the above certificates, so that they may receive their race package. The entrance bracelet, along with the bib number, are required for entry to the start of the race on 25.8.21. Without them, entry to the start of the race will not be allowed.

On the day of the race (25.8), it will not be possible to pick up the race package. Please pick up your race package on time in order to receive your desired size for the event t-shirt; otherwise you will receive the next closest size. Please be prepared to provide the email with your bib number, either in printed or in electronic form.

Delivery/collection of personal items

This year, due to COVID-19, there will be no delivery/collection service for personal items at the starting point. Furthermore, bags will not be allowed inside the Panathenaic Stadium.

Support stations
10K race
Along the route, there will be two support stations for the participants, at the 5th kilometer (National Garden, shortly after Syntagma Square) and the 7th kilometer (on Syggrou Avenue, at Agios Sostis). Bottled water will be available to runners at the start, the finish and at the intermediate support stations.

6K race
A support station will be available during the run, at the 3rd kilometer of the route (on Syggrou Avenue, at Agios Sostis). Bottled water will be available to runners at the start, the finish and at the intermediate support station.

Time limit for completing the race
The races end at 22:30, taking into account any delays in start time. Until this time, under the auspices of the Hellenic Police, traffic along the route will be completely stopped. After this time, participants may continue on the sidewalk under their own responsibility. The event bus will follow runners along the entire route to pick up any remaining participants along the course.

Participation Number
The participation number of each runner must always be visible: during entrance and in the blocks, along the entire route, and at the finish at the SNFCC. Amenities will ONLY be provided to runners clearly bearing their participation number.

How to get to the Panathenaic Stadium
You can access the Panathenaic Stadium by most means of public transport (buses, trolleybuses, trams, metro).

• TRAM STOPS: “ZAPPEIO” and “LEOFOROS VOULIAGMENIS”
• TROLLEYBUSES: 2, 4, 10 and 11
• METRO STOPS: “ACROPOLIS,” “EVANGELISMOS” and “SYNTAGMA”

Note: Transportation of runners from the SNFCC to the Panathenaic Stadium for the start of the race is not provided. You must plan in advance to get to the starting point, with your own means of transportation (or using public transport).

How to return from the SNFCC

Medical services
The race will include full medical support from the First Orthopedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) for the provision of first aid.
All runners participate at their own risk, in accordance with the Terms of Participation. Participants are advised to undergo medical examinations before the race, in order to confirm that they are healthy enough to participate.

Other Useful Information
• Consult your doctor if you have a health problem.
• Demonstrate sportsmanship at all times.
• Respect and follow the instructions of the organizers.
• Do not forget to warm up before you start your race.
• Consume your latest meal two hours before the race.
• Stay well hydrated before and during the race.
• Get to the Starting Line on time.
• Follow your own rhythm, and do not get carried away by the rhythm of other athletes.
• Do not throw bottles or other debris at the starting point, along the route, or at the finish line. Use the bins provided.
• Avoid criticizing other participants, volunteers, organizers, and organizations. Avoid arguments.
• Avoid using offensive language.
• Pets are not allowed to run with the runners.
• The use of headphones is not allowed during the race.
• Friends and relatives are not allowed to cross the finish Line or enter the course with participants. This policy gives every athlete ample time to celebrate their achievement without disturbing other finishers or endangering the safety of athletes, volunteers, and spectators.
• Transportation of runners from the SNFCC to the Panathenaic Stadium for the start of the race and from the SNFCC after the race is not provided by the event organizers.

Safety measures
The safety of runners and spectators is a top priority for the event organizers. We are in close collaboration with the Hellenic Police, the Road Traffic Department, the Fire Department, the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAV) and the First Orthopedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) to enhance the safety of all our events.

Prohibited items
In order to ensure the safety of all SNF Nostos Run participants, spectators, and staff, the following items are prohibited from all sporting events, both at the Panathenaic Stadium and at the SNFCC. For the safety of everyone involved, preventive visual inspections of bags will be carried out.
Specifically:
• The possession and use of alcohol as well as illegal objects or substances, such as weapons, sharp objects, fireworks, etc. is strictly prohibited.
• Glass containers are not allowed.
• Bags, other than those provided by the event organizers, are not allowed.
• Uniforms and masks that cover the entire face and any bulky clothing that extends beyond the perimeter of the body are not allowed.
• Visitors must comply with the recommendations of both security staff and organizational staff.
