Seven to Seventh

A gigantic online stage stretching across different cities and countries around the globe will emerge from June 24 to June 30, centered on the Summer Nostos Festival in Athens. Citizens of each country, as true citizens of the world, will cross the border for the sake of coexistence and converse in the language of dance. Seven to the Seventh was created from the vision of Puerto Rican choreographer Ana Sánchez-Colberg and the Theater en Corps Collectif in collaboration with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The cities playing a leading role are: Athens (Greece), Beirut (Lebanon), Pullheim (Germany), Lausanne (Switzerland), San Juan (Puerto Rico), Chennai (India), Tokyo (Japan), Miami (USA), and San Francisco (USA).

The Seven to the Seventh project invites all citizens to a world dance over a period of seven days with the help of new technologies. A dance with others within our community, in isolated regions, in various locations around the globe aims to create a global “we.” All are welcome to discover this collective experience through social media or witness it live during these seven days; to see it once or as many times as they wish by changing the angle and listening to the sounds; to connect with any of the international happenings that will be taking place at the same time; to take part in the dance and capture the experience through their mobile phones; to share the experience on social media and the relevant website and contribute to the live project file photos, videos, texts, recordings; to become an active part of the creation and life of Seven to the Seventh. Multiple spaces within the SNFCC will be transformed into a modern Pnyx. Citizens of Athens as citizens of the world will connect with people in other cities around the world. Each city will become a beacon of unity and will show new ways to embrace our complex world.
