Lisa Gibbs, CEO of the Pulitzer Center, a global nonprofit journalism organization, leads a dynamic session on how the Center is navigating the challenges of misinformation on global health by advancing an approach that informs, inspires, connects, and activates audiences. The Pulitzer Center is an award-winning nonprofit that supports dozens of reporting projects focused on critical global health issues every year.

Drawing on recent examples of work supported by the Pulitzer Center, Lisa will share how the Center’s breakthrough journalism approach takes the global health reporting they support beyond the headlines. Their support for reporting on global health issues combines rich evidence with relatable human stories impacting how audiences think—and act. Through their civic engagement programs, their journalism then serves as a catalyst for connections and conversations between experts, policymakers, and audiences. And their audience-centered approach helps them reach audiences who don’t typically consume the “news” through creative engagement across virtual and physical platforms. She will also share how journalism can inspire the next generation to care about, seek out, and recognize factual information through approaches that connect journalism to the arts, poetry, and to their own voice, in the fractured, noisy, media ecosystem we are all navigating.
