SNF Nostos Run

Engage

Past SNF Nostos Runners, you know the drill: with the sunset as your backdrop, you’ll traverse the heart of Athens to finish in the exuberant embrace of SNF Nostos.

On June 23, lace up your running shoes and get moving for a good cause at the much-loved SNF Nostos Run. This year you can choose between the 10K, 6K or 1K race. Which one will it be?

And you know what they say: The end of every run is just the beginning of a great gathering. (Okay, maybe they don’t say that, but in this case it’s true.) Times don’t matter; good vibes do!

10KM

For adults and children 15 years and older

6KM

For adults and children 12 years and older

1KM

For Special Olympics athletes

The race, which is organized in collaboration with the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress, represents all that staying active can do for us, from strengthening our concentration to improving our mood and boosting our creativity, but above all reflects the importance of striving toward a goal, especially when it is a collective one. Celebrating three decades of grantmaking and with an emphasis on the spirit of giving and solidarity, SNF will triple-match the amount raised from the runners’ entry fees to support this year’s partner nonprofit organizations: the Greek nonprofits Lampsi and Pnoi Agapis.

The run includes 10K and 6K routes, starting at the Panathenaic Stadium in Central Athens and finishing at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), as well as a 1K route for Special Olympics athletes. The 10K route will start at 20:50, the 6K at 21:10, and the 1K at 20:50. Along the route, percussion bands Quilombo and Batala will help set the pace, and the finish line will be soundtracked by an energetic DJ set.

Organizational supervision of the race is provided by the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress and the Department of Sports Excellence – Sports Excellence at the 1st Orthopaedic Surgery Clinic of the Medical School of the University of Athens.

The SNF Nostos Run is noncompetitive in nature, but official times will be kept for all those wishing to track their performance.

Running for a good cause!

Once again, the SNF Nostos Run is charitable in nature. Runners are invited to contribute a nominal participation fee of €5 (or more for anyone who wishes to do so) to support the work of nonprofit organizations Lampsi, which strives for excellent medical and pediatric care for children in Northern Greece with serious diseases, and Pnoi Agapis, “an association of volunteers for the social and emotional support of people with cancer and their families.”

Runners’ donations will go even further with SNF’s additional support. SNF will triple each contribution (for example, for every €5 contribution, SNF will contribute an additional €15, so that the organizations will receive a total of €20 from that entry into the run).

Payment of the entry fee must be made by credit or debit card through the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress, which is responsible for the organizational supervision of the race. The total amount raised after SNF’s triple-match will then be equally divided and donated to the partner nonprofits, Lampsi and Pnoi Agapis.

The SNF Nostos Run is made possible by support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), which covers all costs associated with holding the race, as part of SNF Nostos 2026. Organizational supervision of the race is provided by the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress and the Department of Sports Excellence – Sports Excellence at the 1st Orthopaedic Surgery Clinic of the Medical School of the University of Athens. The race is organized in collaboration with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) and the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC), and is held under the auspices of the Hellenic Police.
