Chairman of Special Olympics International

Timothy Shriver is a husband, father, and grandfather, educator, best-selling author, Chairman of Special Olympics, and Co-Creator of The Dignity Index. As Chairman of Special Olympics, a global movement to end discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities, he led the largest expansion in the organization’s history—growing from one million athletes to more than six million in over 170 countries. As he transitioned from the CEO role, he began exploring how the courage of Special Olympics athletes and social and emotional learning skills, such as empathy and perspective-taking, could help heal a divided world. As Chairman of UNITE, he helped pioneer the Dignity Index, a tool designed to help Americans disagree without demonizing one another, and launched ambitious moonshots that unite people across differences. Shriver holds degrees from Yale University, The Catholic University of America, and the University of Connecticut. He co-founded and chairs CASEL, executive produced films including Amistad and The Peanut Butter Falcon, and is the author of the New York Times bestseller Fully Alive.
