Sharon Cohen is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Figure Skating in Harlem, the pioneering New York City nonprofit she launched in 1997 to expand opportunity for girls through the transformative power of sport and education. A former competitive figure skater and graduate of Brown University, Cohen created an innovative model that integrates academics, leadership development, and figure skating to empower girls from underserved communities. For more than 25 years, the organization has served thousands of girls and become a nationally recognized leader in sport-based youth development with strong academic and college success outcomes. Figure Skating in Harlem received the IOC Women and Sport Award from the International Olympic Committee, and its story is featured in the Harlem Ice docuseries on Disney+. Cohen has spoken internationally on sport for social impact and was named a CNN Hero for expanding opportunity for young women through sport.
