Rodney Brooks

Rodney Brooks is the Emeritus Panasonic Professor of Robotics at MIT and the former director of MIT's AI Lab and then Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab. He has published widely in AI and Robotics since the 1970s, and posts regularly at rodneybrooks.com/blog where he tries to moderate current hype into realistic expectations around large-scale deployments of AI and robots. He has co-founded three major robotics companies—iRobot, Rethink Robotics, and Robust.AI—all of which have deployed robots (Roomba, Packbot, Baxter, Sawyer, and Carter) across the globe and at scale, more than 50 million robots and counting, spanning consumer, defense, manufacturing, and logistics.
