Chairperson of the Department of Pediatrics at King Hussein Cancer Center, President Elect of Pediatric Oncology East Mediterraean (POEM) Group

Dr. Rawad Rihani is a senior Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist and expert in pediatric leukemia, blood and marrow transplantation, and cellular therapy. She trained at the University of Jordan and completed fellowship training at Sydney Children’s Hospital, with an academic appointment at the University of New South Wales. She currently serves as Chairperson of Pediatrics at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) and Associate Professor at the University of Jordan and previously led the Pediatric BMT and Cellular Therapy Program.

Her work focuses on cellular therapy, leukemia, survivorship, implementation science, and health systems strengthening, and she is leading the development of the pediatric CAR-T program at KHCC. She is President-Elect and Scientific Chairperson of POEM, a member of the SIOP Asia Executive Board and SIOP Women’s Leadership Group, and a HIGH-IRI Fellow (Cohort 5).

She leads collaborations with St. Jude Global, the World Health Organization, Princess Máxima Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and I-BFM, advancing SJCARES, PrOFILE, Essential Medicines, and early detection initiatives. She also leads humanitarian efforts supporting children with cancer from Gaza and Syria. Her work has been recognized by the King.
