Pietro Odaglia

Dr. Pietro Odaglia is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Digital Building Technologies Lab in the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich. His expertise lies in sustainable Additive Manufacturing technologies, with a focus on material circularity and low-carbon binders. Dr. Odaglia is a recognized expert in inorganic binder jet 3D printing, a specialized fabrication method he has significantly advanced. Crucially, he developed the method for 3D printing with recycled stone/marble dust from quarries, utilizing geopolymers as an eco-friendly binder to achieve stone-like strength and minimize the environmental impact of cement. This innovation contributes to material circularity and low-carbon construction. His pioneering work has been featured in major international venues such as the Venice Architecture Biennale (2023). In the context of the project being presented at SNF Nostos 2026, Dr. Odaglia is the 3D-printing expert, applying his specialized knowledge in custom 3D printing process development and sustainable material science to realize the physical components.
