Co-Founder and CEO of Sandy Hook Promise

Nicole Hockley is co-founder and CEO of Sandy Hook Promise. After her youngest son, Dylan, was murdered in his first-grade classroom during the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Nicole dedicated her life to ending school shootings and youth violence. Under her leadership, the research-driven, age-appropriate Know The Signs violence prevention programs are available to all schools at no cost. More than 44 million people have participated in these life-saving programs, which are proven to have prevented at least 19 credible planned school shooting attacks and countless other acts of violence, self-harm, and youth suicide.   

A leading voice on gun violence prevention, Nicole’s commentary has appeared in Newsweek, CNN, USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, and on major broadcast networks. She also co-creates Sandy Hook Promise’s award-winning PSA campaigns, including the Emmy-winning “Back to School Essentials” and “Teenage Dream.” Recognized by People as one of “25 Women Changing the World,” her most meaningful role is being the best mom she can be to her surviving son, Jake.
