Jeanne Garbarino
Executive Director of RockEDU Science Outreach at The Rockefeller University, Lab Lead of the Civic Science Fellows Program
Jeanne Garbarino is a civic scientist committed to making science accessible, inclusive, and equitable. As Executive Director of RockEDU, she has built a strong local ecosystem that connects young people across New York City with high-quality scientific training. Through deep collaboration with educators, researchers, and community partners, her work has helped position The Rockefeller University as a leading place for diverse young communities to explore science, build skills, and pursue opportunities that expand their futures. As Lab Lead for the Civic Science Fellows Program, Jeanne also works nationally to strengthen the civic science movement. She advises leaders, funders, and institutions on how to connect scientific work with public purpose and community well-being. Across all of her efforts, Jeanne centers mentorship, teamwork, and equitable access, guided by a vision that all people can shape and benefit from science. She earned her PhD in metabolic biology from Columbia University and completed her postdoctoral training in the Laboratory of Biochemical Genetics and Metabolism at Rockefeller.
