Dr. Emile Bacha is the current Chair of the Department of Surgery at Columbia/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. An internationally recognized leader in both pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery, Dr. Bacha has dedicated his distinguished career to expanding therapies and improving outcomes for some of the most complex cardiac conditions in addition to mentoring countless trainees and faculty. His surgical achievements have earned him international renown, awards and honors, and a practice that spans the globe. In addition to his medical innovations, Dr. Bacha is a prolific researcher, authoring more than 350 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His research mission is to make pediatric cardiac surgery safer and less invasive. He is the current president of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, the American Surgical Association and a founding member of the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery.
