Denny Oliveira Curini
Member, SNF Global Center Youth Advisory Council
There was a time when my name did not belong to me. Neither did my toys, my clothes, nor my identity. I was a trans child, and the world broke me before I could even present myself to it. Amid so much silence, shame, and fear, I found myself in international studies and held onto it, because who I was did not matter, only where I wanted to go. I am passionate about education. I speak more than four languages and continue to venture into grammars I do not yet know, learning through different cultures and societies. I am the founder and leader of Projeto Solidário, an initiative that supports vulnerable communities and nongovernmental organizations by encouraging youth leadership and promoting mental health through donations. I love art, everything that is genuine and comes from the heart. Writing captivates me, because I believe words also have the power to transform. They say writing is bleeding, but it is also liberation. I turn hatred into fuel to keep occupying more and more spaces, showing that I belong here, and now. Youth is power. Being fully yourself is power.
