Aristides N. Hatzis
Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Director of the Laboratory for Political & Institutional Theory and the History of Ideas
Aristides N. Hatzis is Professor of Philosophy of Law & Theory of Institutions and Director of the Laboratory for Political & Institutional Theory and the History of Ideas at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds a PhD in Law and Economics from the University of Chicago. He has served on the governing boards of European and Greek scholarly associations, as well as on the National Council for Research & Technology and the National Committee for the Bicentennial of the Greek War of Independence. He is a member of the Scientific Councils of ELIAMEP and the Historical Archives of the University of Athens. He currently serves as a delegate to the User Advisory Group of the National Archives of the United Kingdom, representing academic researchers. He has received numerous fellowships and awards; his work has been published in Greek and international journals and edited volumes; and he has taught and delivered lectures extensively across Europe, North America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. His book The Noblest Cause: The 1821 Greek War of Independence will be published in the United States in 2026 and is already available in Greek translation.
