Workshop by the National Museum of Natural History Goulandris: Life is everywhere! A journey through biodiversity
Duration: 2 hours
If our planet were a giant tree and every form of life a single leaf, this tree would have millions upon millions of leaves. Thousands of them would be plants, millions would be fungi, and most would be animals—mostly microscopic and almost invisible to the naked eye. And yet, every organism is a precious link in the vast web of life that connects us all.
When we think of nature, we usually picture impressive animals like tigers, lions, rhinos, polar bears, or blue whales. But life is everywhere: in a drop of water, in a handful of soil, in the depths of the sea, and even hidden in the concrete of our cities. How well do we truly know the real world around us, and how important is it to the planet’s balance—and to our own survival?
Join us in an exciting journey of discovery through biodiversity, featuring specimens and selected artifacts from the collections of the National Museum of Natural History Goulandris. A small window will open up to the wonderful world of nature, revealing stories of adaptation and survival that often go unnoticed.
Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to examine a butterfly’s wings, an insect’s compound eyes, and the minute details of plants and animals. They will handle seashells from oceans around the world, discover the secrets they hold, participate in memory and trivia games, and create masks and drawings inspired by nature.
An interactive experience for the whole family, reminding us that life is everywhere and that every lifeform has value.
Free admission for adults and children.
