Journalist

Christos Sotirakopoulos entered the world of journalism with the “Apogevmatini” newspaper in 1979. Even though he tried to study in Italy, he soon decided to take the hard road working with ERT (Greek National Broadcaster). In 1984 he took over the co-presentation of the show “Athlitiki Kiriaki” (Sports Sunday). In 1990 he moved to MEGA Channel while from 2003 he collaborated with SUPERSPORT which was later renamed NovaSport. Since 2015 he has been working for CosmoteTV. He has worked for several newspapers (“Athlitiki Iho”, “Vima”, “Epikairotita”, “24 Ores”, “Sportime”, “Goal News”) and has been the correspondent of the Italian newspaper “Tuttosport” and the British paper “Independent” while several of his articles where published in the World Soccer and Four Four Two magazines. In 1994 he created the Center for Sports Journalism, the first specialized school of athletic journalism, as well as the SPORT FMradio station in 1996 which he directed until 2014, maintaining it in the top of athletic radio stations for 18 years. He was a consultant of the newspaper Sportday from 2005 to 2015. Christos Sotirakopoulos was awarded with the Best TV Show award in 1999 during the Journalism Awards of the Greek Press Union and Best Radio Show for 2000 and 2016. He has been awarded with 10 “Favorite Sportscaster” awards at the TV Ethnos television awards. In 2007 he was voted “Radio Personality of the Year” at the Status magazine awards. In 1998 he was the winner of the football knowledge competition among 1,000 and more international colleagues during the France World Cup. He is the author of 50 years Champions Cup (2006) and the best sellers Game without Limits (2008), The Idols of Sunday (2011), Mundial Moments (2014) and Trip To The Stars (2016) which was awarded the People’s Favorite award in the Well Being category of the Public Book Awards in 2017.
