SNF Nostos Conference: Humanity and Artificial Intelligence
June 24 & 25, 2021
For the past nine years, the SNF Nostos Conference has brought together some of the world's most insightful thinkers, leaders, artists, iconoclasts, and visionaries to explore critical questions related to the future of humanity and society. Presented as a gift to the public by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), the Conference seeks to explore and deepen our collective understanding of fundamental issues while strengthening habits of civil discourse. Since 2016, the Conference has convened at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens, Greece. The SNFCC, the Foundation's largest single grant to date, is an ambitious project to create truly public space that every member of society can make their own.
The tenth Conference organized by SNF will take place on June 24 and 25, 2021 and will be dedicated to the knotty topic of Humanity and Artificial Intelligence. In this time of wide-reaching social and technological change, dialogue can help us make sense of what is happening around us and anticipate the choices that lie ahead. What lessons can we learn from past crises? How can we "bounce forward" into a more inclusive and sustainable future? And how do we ensure that in that future technologies—artificial intelligence in particular—serve humanity, and not the other way around? The conference will explore the relationship between humanity and AI and how it maps onto themes like work, education, justice, history, and wisdom.
The SNF Nostos Conference is free and open to all. The Conference program will be available here in the near future.
