Sounds of Sisso

The Sounds of Sisso is a live electronic music show by Bampa Pana and MC Makavelli focusing on the current, exciting, underground Singeli music, an emerging strain of electronic music (a hardcore techno sub-genre) that first appeared in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and has since become the national anthem of Tanzanian youth.

Dar es Salaam, has had for the past 15 years one of the most exciting underground electronic music scenes in Eastern Africa. Singeli's signature sound consists of fast-paced frantic loops interlocking with each other, coupled with MCs who spit fast raps too.

The Sounds of Sisso is a strong introduction to Singeli's sound. Across its 14 tracks, we get to know the sound’s core producers -Bwax, Sisso, Tampa Pana, Yung Keyz Morento- and its amazing fast chat MCs, such as Dogo Niga and Makavelli.

It is clearly a music for raving to, but its satirical lyrics that deal with issues like police corruption, provide food for thought.
