Family Portraits

As part of the World Refugee Day celebrations, photojournalist Joey O’Loughlin presents Family Portraits. This exhibit features photographs of refugee families who arrived in our country after a long and dangerous journey, hoping for a better life. These images, in contrast to those widely published in the mass media, show the strong, yet tender family connections that sustained them through this experience.

The portraits were made at the Kara Tepe camp on Lesvos, and were given to the families to carry with them to their new homes.

During the first three days of the festival we will invite visitors to have family photos taken by Joey in our olive grove. This shared experience will shine light on what we have in common - families who give us strength when we are challenged, and celebrate with us in times of joy.

Note: The installation has been cancelled for Sunday, June 17 due to weather conditions.
