D. Kalantzis Quintet & Kamerata
Dimitris Kalantzis Quintet along with the vibraphone artist Christos Rafalides and Armonia Atenea, under the direction of Stathis Soulis, meet on the Great Lawn stage to perform Modes & Moods, based on the music of renowned Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis.
Dimitris Kalantzis started his piano studies when he was still young, taking lessons in the Athens Conservatoire and the Athenian Conservatory. In 1990 he enrolled in the jazz department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, graduating in 1994. During his career, he worked with many distinguished Greek and foreign artists, establishing himself in the Greek jazz scene.
In a devout atmosphere drawing references from the music of great Jazz artist John Coltrane, the Quintet in collaboration with Armonia Atenea and three brass instruments, create a mesmerizing soundscape where Mikis Theodorakis’ music is redefined through jazz.
