SNF Nostos 2023 is on its way to help us see mental health from every angle

June 20 to 23

Sensitive and resilient. Vulnerable and bristling. Mental Health can be all of these at once. From June 20 to 23, we are looking forward to seeing you at SNF Nostos 2023, which will take place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens, so that together we can all analyze, discuss, and normalize every aspect of mental health. For four days, learning, conversation, and entertainment become one, proving that taking care of our interior worlds begins out there.

SNF Dialogues on Mental Health: Reconnecting in a Fractured Political Landscape

June 21

In a world where polarization threatens democracy and mental health, it is vital to bring the intersection of politics, psychology, and personal well-being forward in the public discourse. Can we find innovative solutions to navigate political conflicts and understand the true impact of polarization on mental health?

On the first day of SNF Nostos, SNF Dialogues, in a dynamic collaboration with the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University, welcomes distinguished experts in the field and dives into this crucial, thought-provoking topic.

The SNF Dialogues are curated and moderated by iMEdD Managing Director, SNF Dialogues Executive Director, and journalist Anna-Kynthia Bousdoukou.

New perspectives on mental health at the SNF Nostos Conference

June 22-23

Where around the world can we find positive examples of mental health services for young people? What ethical considerations come into play when chatbots are used in mental health care? How can artistic expression help address trauma? Thinkers, researchers, and activists from a wide range of fields are coming together for the 2023 SNF Nostos Conference to discuss the progress of the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative and tackle topics such as loneliness and its effects on mental health; the role of arts, AI, and technology; the importance of support systems; and the mental health challenges faced by specific populations, including young people.

Join us and add your voice to conversations featuring speakers like Bring Change to Mind co-founder Glenn Close, MindUP founder Goldie Hawn, March For Our Lives co-founder David Hogg, New York Times architecture critic Michael Kimmelman, child psychiatrist and Child Mind Institute founding president Harold S. Koplewicz,  and Columbia psychiatrist Sander Markx.

The SNF Nostos Conference, organized in collaboration with the journalism nonprofit iMEdD (incubator for Media Education and Development), is a free, interactive experience, and everyone is welcome to participate. A global SNF Nostos Youth Advisory Committee helps make sure perspectives from all ages are represented.

*Admission is free via online registration and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Barack Obama to join SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos in conversation

We are honored and delighted that President Barack Obama will take part in this year’s SNF Nostos Conference. He is returning to the stage at the Greek National Opera’s Stavros Niarchos Hall, from which he spoke during his last international trip in office, for a conversation with SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos on how to strengthen our democratic culture and the importance of investing in the next generation of leaders. Attendees will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, and due to strong interest in this event, which will take place on June 22 from 17:30-18:15, it will be livestreamed at locations throughout the SNFCC.
